Wellbeing is considerably more than the physical issues associated with significant health challenges: It encompasses underlying factors which affect health and quality of life such as daily habits, lifestyle choices, relationships with family and care providers, spiritual perspectives, and overall emotional outlook which may include stress, anxiety, and depression. Joy in being alive, persistent pain, hope, and fatigue may all co-exist, as well as the wish to throw plates out of frustration, or hug one's four-legged companion in an effort to feel a sense of comfort and companionship. When the body then demands much more attention (and energy) than one feels one can give it, having someone who is sympathetic and responsive can be a welcome catalyst in restoring range of motion, retaining mobility in Parkinson's or MS, as well as reintegrating mind and body connections after a surgical procedure or an injury.

Therapeutic rehabilitation programs take into consideration therapeutic needs, physical ability, fatigue, pain levels, cultural considerations, and family / caregiver circumstances. Clients complete an initial, comprehensive intake session including medical history, physical assessment, mental and emotional outlook, lifestyle habits, and substantial discussion and question-answer time in order to better understand each person as a whole. Going forward, options may include Yoga Therapy, Comprehensive Therapy, or, if being outside in natural settings is motivating as well as inspiring, Nature Therapy (walk-and-talk).

Rehabilitation is defined as a set of interventions designed to optimize functioning and reduce disability in individuals with health conditions in interaction with their environment. Put simply, rehabilitation helps a child, adult or older person to be as independent as possible in everyday activities and enables participation in education, work, recreation and meaningful life roles such as taking care of family. Globally, an estimated 2.4 billion people are currently living with a health condition that may benefit from rehabilitation.
