Person-Centered Care & Therapy
Person-centered, common sense, in-home caregiving, companion care, and advocacy for women of all ages with health challenges in Bloomington Indiana and Monroe County is provided by a therapist who, first and foremost, endeavors to make life a bit easier, and more accessible, for fellow human beings. She specializes in therapy for neurological conditions and movement disorders, therapeutic rehabilitation, chronic pain management, and disability, as well as mentoring and supporting women who face health challenges.

Wellbeing is considerably more than the obvious physical issues associated with significant health challenges: It encompasses underlying factors which affect health and quality of life such as daily habits, lifestyle choices, relationships with family and care providers, spiritual perspectives, and mental / emotional outlook which may include stress, anxiety, and depression. Joy in being alive, persistent pain, and fatigue may all co-exist, as well as the wish to throw plates out of frustration, or hug one's four-legged companion in an effort to feel a sense of companionship and love.
Companion Care & Support for All Ages
Receiving care, companionship, and support are intrinsic needs, regardless of age. Women often receive their diagnosis of MS in their twenties or forties, while early onset Parkinson's may manifest in one's thirties. Cancer treatment and recovery, injury or surgery, limb loss, as well as life-affecting pain and fatigue are not age-specific.
Supportive therapy and companion care are tailored to the individual and take into consideration therapeutic needs, physical ability, fatigue, pain levels, cultural considerations, and family circumstances. Clients complete an initial, comprehensive intake session including medical history, physical assessment, mental and emotional outlook, lifestyle habits, and substantial discussion and question-answer time in order to better understand each person as a whole. If English is not a primary language: hablamos español, and nous parlons français.
Support for Caregiving Women
Caregivers tend to be women: almost a third of the U.S. population. The average caregiver in the United States is a 49-year-old woman who works outside the home and provides 20 hours per week of unpaid care to her mother. They may also be a wife caring for her husband, a mother staying home to care for a child with a disability, or a sister who has taken in a sibling with long-term health challenges. Quite often, this commitment to caring for those around them is at the cost of their own emotional and physical health and wellbeing.

Second Nature Wellbeing for Life supports women caregivers who are experiencing emotional burnout as well their own health concerns and life-challenges. This may take the form of respite time, individualized lifestyle therapy, yoga therapy for anxiety and stress, as well as help with health advocacy, nutritional considerations, and companion care for the person they are caring for.
